Umbrella Brands Group launches new fund for East Midlands digital startups

Lincoln-based Umbrella Brands Group (UBG) is inviting startups and entrepreneurs from across the UK’s East Midlands region to apply for their share of its new Growth Investment Fund, with €58k up for grabs per startup.

The fund, which is open to entrepreneurs and startups working in the digital or e-commerce industries, has been launched by the founder of the group Steve Bryant following his own experience building multi-million pound businesses across the region.

Successful applicants will have the chance to receive a €58k in funding to support future growth. Aside from financial support, startups will benefit from mentorship and support from UBG’s CEO to help steer their business, calling on his experience of building strong and profitable startups.

The Growth Investment Fund will give freelancers or startups with five staff or less access to finance, leadership support and expert help in business planning and day-to-day operations in exchange for a percentage of shares.

Applicants will need to be based in Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire and be running a limited company, or be willing to incorporate in order to qualify for funding support. Enquiries from pre-launch businesses with a sufficiently advanced business plan are also eligible.

“The Growth Investment Fund is designed to help local entrepreneurs and digital innovators take their business ideas to the next level or jump on to new opportunities quickly – whether that’s financing larger capital expenditures, extra marketing or new investments to help them scale-up quickly,” said Steve Bryant, founder & CEO of UBG.

“I wish I’d had access to this kind of support when I was just starting out. When you’re launching a business it’s difficult to know where to start when it comes to finding and securing the right kind of funding when you need it. That’s precisely why we’re launching this fund.

“We take every application on its merit – there’s no limit to what innovative, ‘digitally-minded’ businesses can use this fund to do or build. We can’t wait to help as many startups as we can to grow and thrive.”

Umbrella Brands Group was formed last year as the parent company to some of Lincoln’s fastest-growing brands, including marketing agency ThoughtMix.
