Delivery Hero acquires Cyprus-based food ordering startup Foody

Cyprus-based startup Foody has been acquired by the Berlin-based food delivery giant Delivery Hero.

Foody was founded in 2015 with the goal of becoming the main way of ordering food in Cyprus. It has since grown to a team of 40, and has partnered with more than 600 restaurants and coffee shops, receiving over 130,000 orders per month.

By joining Delivery Hero, Foody has become part of a family of brands with a presence in 39 countries around the world.

“Everybody in the Foody team is very excited about joining Delivery Hero,” said Argyris Argyrou, CEO and founder of Foody. “Becoming part of one of the strongest teams in the world is fascinating and a great opportunity for our team to learn from their knowledge and experience and create an even better Foody. I would like to thank each and every one of our customers and restaurants for their overwhelming support in the last four years, and promise that we will continue working to make the next four years even better.”

The founders will continue in their leadership roles and alongside the current team which will continue to operate the business on a day-to-day basis.

Through the new relationship with Delivery Hero, Foody expects to gain access to in-depth expertise, and its state of the art technology and processes that are used in other countries.

This access and knowledge sharing combined with continued investment will help the team to continue its exciting journey and grow at an accelerated pace while continuing to build a stronger and bigger Foody that can serve its customers and partners even better.
