The “Factory of the Year” is one of the most prestigious industrial competitions in Europe. The winners of the current benchmark competition will be honored at Europe’s largest conference for production in March 2020. The application deadline for the Startup Challenge runs until the end of September.
At the annual Startup Challenge, which is part of “Factory of the Year”, five founder teams get the opportunity to pitch their solutions and ideas for production in front of a large audience. At the end, the startup with the best solution will receive an award during the festive gala at the conference in March. The competition focuses on manufacturing and production related startups.
Timings: The application deadline is on September 30, 2019. You will be informed if you are allowed to participate in the preselection on October 15, 2019. In December 2019 the preselection will take place (with a video pitch), and in March 2020 the best 5 startups will pitch at the Factory of the Year congress in Germany.

In 2019, the winner was Wandelbots, a German startup that enables non-programmers to teach industrial robots faster and cheaper using smart clothing. And in 2018 it was Kinexon, which provides real-time intelligence and value for a connected world.
