Berlin-based HR startup Zenjob has raised €15 million to connect companies to student workers

The Berlin-based recruitment startup Zenjob connects large and medium-sized businesses to student workers with just a few clicks. The on-demand staffing platform staffs companies in several different fields – including logistics, hotels, events, and retail – with students looking for jobs in several cities across Germany. Students receive real-time job offers through Zenjob directly on their smartphones, and can confirm the job offer with just one click in the app.

Zenjob just announced that it has raised €15 million in a Series B financing round led by AXA Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors Acton Capital Partners, Redalpine, and Atlantic Labs. The capital will be invested in product development and the expansion of the business across Germany and beyond.

Founded in 2015 by Fritz Trott (who we previously interviewed here), Arvid Seeberg-Elverfeldt, Cihan Aksakal, Frederik Fahning and Cornelius v. Rantzau, Zenjob has supplied personnel for over 1,000 clients, including Vapiano, Mister Spex, and Holiday Inn. On average, the startup staffs over 10,000 on-demand temporary jobs with students every month.

Fritz Trott, co-founder and CEO of Zenjob, said: “Traditional temporary employment agencies are still struggling with a digital transformation in the market. What the staffing sector is lacking are innovative products. With our automated software technology, we manage to place the majority of personnel within only a few hours. At the same time, we offer our clients long-term planning security.”

Imran Akram from AXA Venture Partners said: “On-demand employment is a global megatrend in the job market. The demand for temporary staff is continuously increasing. At the same time, employees are seeking a flexible and self-determined working life. We are looking forward to support Zenjob’s vision and believe that the digital business model will change the labour market of the future.”
