Barcelona-based Worldcoo raised €1 million through micro-donations and has helped to carry out about 200 social projects

Worldcoo, the Barcelona-based social impact startup that offers different fundraising channels in order to help NGOs to carry out their social and cooperation projects over the world, has recently achieved €1 million in donations. This amount has helped to fund about 200 social initiatives in 45 countries, which means that more than 163.000 people have been directly assisted.

UNICEF, Save the Children, Plan International, UNCHR or Educo are some of the entities of which Worldcoo has collaborated with. All of them have had the opportunity to carry out their projects thanks to the implementation of the different fundraising tools that the company offers addressed to every kind of companies. With them, employees and customers can show their social commitment and make a micro-donation.

From its beginnings in 2012, Worldcoo has helped to fight against malnutrition, give smiles to sick children, investigate the cure of childhood leukemia, facilitate access to drinking water in countries like Peru or Kenya, promote access to education in India or find a home for abandoned dogs, among many others.

Worldcoo counts on an extensive network of “companies with a cause”, which offer their employees and customers the option to make a micro-donation. These are companies specialized in online sales, such as Ticketmaster, PcComponentes or Promofarma, banking entities, such as Banco Sabadell or Evo Banco and large corporations such as Telefónica or Iberdrola, among others.

In addition, Worldcoo has recently launched the “Social Round Up”, a new solidarity collection channel that enables to round up the final amount of the purchase and donate the cents to a social cause in the same commercial establishment. In this sense, Cottet Ópticas y Audiología has been the first Spanish company to implement it.

Worldcoo achieves its fundraising goals via the strong collaboration of customers and employers from many kind of companies, who have the option to make a micro-donation in payment process or online platforms. Since May 2015, Worldcoo counts on the B Corp certification and during the same year, it was one of the SMEs chosen to receive funding from the European Commission with the Horizon 2020 Program.
