The European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC), Europe’s leading innovation competition dedicated to Global Satellite Navigation System (GNSS) Galileo, is scouting for new business ideas, applications, products and services that use satellite navigation in everyday life.

Innovative business ideas using GNSS are invited to enter the competition until 31 July 2018.

Why participate in the ESNC?

  • Cash prizes with an overall prize pool of more than €1 million
  • Startup funding
  • Access to an international network of leading GNSS organisations
  • Access to the E-GNSS Accelerator
  • Access to testing facilities
  • Crowd investing platform
  • Business development support

Additionally, the top 10 winners are eligible for selection as one of three candidates to receive 12 months of business incubation support (valued at €62,000 each) as part of the E-GNSS Accelerator programme, co-financed by the European Commission.

Who are the partners of the ESNC?

The partners of the 2018 edition are the European GNSS Agency (GSA), the European Space Agency (ESA), the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). In addition, participants choose from this year’s confirmed 18 international partner regions.

Over 20 challenges target a wide diversity of GNSS application fields

This year, the ESNC challenges once again feature exciting topics tackling global societal and business-related issues, including the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Smart Cities, Mobile Health (mHealth), Location Based Serives (LBS), safety and security, environmental protection, digital transportation and much more.

No matter what kind of new idea interested people come up with, the ESNC offers a challenge and respective prizes to all sorts of application fields.

Who are able to participate?

The spectrum of the competition is wide: Startups, entrepreneurs, SMEs, students, developers, researchers, space and satellite navigation fans, data and high-tech enthusiasts. One common goal unites them: The urge to make the world a better place with new ideas for smart GNSS solutions.

The ENSC Mission

The mission of the ESNC is to foster the user uptake of Europe’s flagship GNSS programme, Galileo, as well as to spur the commercial use of satellite navigation signals and services in everyday life, for the ultimate benefit of EU citizens. With 321 innovative entries submitted and participants from over 50 countries in 2017, the ENSC is not only a Launchpad for new Galileo applications but also a Europe-wide and effective support mechanism for entrepreneurs and startups.

Business and society constantly need new ideas for innovative solutions to make an impact! The same applies to satellite navigation. Let’s go! The ENSC is waiting to turn new ideas into high-flyers. Apply now!
