Join InnoApps – the pan-European competition to develop innovative Apps for SmartCities (Sponsored)

If you are working on an idea which leverages the IoT (Internet of Things) to make Europe’s cities smarter and safer, you should definitely join this year’s InnoApps Challenge. Applicants have the chance to receive valuable mentorship and ultimately an attractive amount of prize money.

The InnoApps Challenge is the only pan-European competition to develop innovative Apps for SmartCities. InnoApps, which is organised by EYIF in partnership with Huawei, encourages young people to build ground-breaking solutions to improve social inclusion and foster the development of decentralised innovation ecosystems in Europe. This year the focus is on the IoT (Internet of Things), as a cross-cutting technology domain and on Smart Cities as a vertical application area, to address the specific challenges related to SafeCities.

The winner of this year’s InnoApps edition will receive a cash prize of €20.000 and the runner-up will receive € 15.000.

Applications will be accepted till the 25th of October. The 12 selected finalists are going to form teams of 2 (6 teams in total). They will be invited to Brussels and get mentorship and have the chance to present their idea for an app in front of the jury during the final event. The mentor for the participating canditates will be Sébastien Deletaille, the founder and CEO of Real Impact Analytics (RIA).

The final event will be held on the 9th of February 2017 at the Autoworld, Brussels. The jury members are experts from Huawei, EYIF, European Commission, Amsterdam City and the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL).

The aim of the InnoApps Challenge is to contribute to the development of a more socially inclusive society in Europe by fostering e-skills, increasing e-participation and promoting entrepreneurship for young generations in Europe today.

In contrast to other competitions, InnoApps provides long-term mentoring and commercialisation support for the winning team, to create a feasible and concrete pathway for the winning App developers to bring to the market their creativity.

By the way: You don’t need to be a developer! If you have a brilliant idea or a product concept for SmartCities, we recommend you to join the InnoApps Competition. Let’s make Europe’s cities smarter and safer. Apply now!
