Food experience platform VizEat secures €3.8 million to interconnect more food lovers

Europe’s largest immersive food experience platform VizEat has raised €3.8 million in a new funding round with a group of unnamed new investors and with participation from current investor Eurovestech plc.

Founded in July 2014, Paris-based VizEat has grown considerably from 50 hosts to more than 20,000 across 110 countries, enabling travellers and residents alike to discover and share authentic meals and experiences, such as cooking classes and food tours, with locals all over the world.  The VizEat website is already available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

VizEat plans to utilize the funds to accelerate its growth, which will include new offices opening in the UK and Germany, the strengthening of its management team, starting with the appointment of former Head of Mobile Acquisition Marketing of Meetic-Match Group Europe, Pierrine Griffiths, and continuing to boost its community of outstanding travel and food experiences with locals around the world.

Jean-Michel Petit, Co-Founder & CEO at VizEat said: “For many holidaymakers, a VizEat food experience with locals is often the highlight of any trip. Because travellers don’t have to radically change their travel habits to enjoy these great experiences, VizEat has partnered with a range of hospitality providers, harmoniously aligning itself with the tourism industry. This new round of funding will allow us to boost our growth plans so that we can bring our ultimate local food experiences to more people, in even more countries.”

In February of 2015, VizEat raised €1 million in a seed funding round led by UK-based Eurovestech Plc. The new investment brings the total amount of raised capital to €4.8 million.
