The bike and outdoor activity company internetstores has just announced that its online shops exceeded €1 million net revenue per day on Monday 30 June, for the first time in its 11-year history. The Esslingen-based company stated that it became clear in recent weeks that this would eventually happen, but the company missed the seven-figure sum by a small margin on a number of occasions over the past few weeks.
CEO and founder René Marius Köhler stated proudly: “Everyone has worked very hard over the past few months to lay the foundations for this level of revenue. Having worked together as a team across all divisions and thanks to the efforts of every individual, we were able to surpass this inconceivable mark.”
The reasons for this particularly high revenue per day are multi-fold: the online shops (amongst others fahrrad.de, Bikester and CAMPZ) have constantly been optimised over the past few months and mobile websites have been launched. In addition, the shipping promise offered by the company is highly regarded by its customers; all orders placed before 4pm are shipped on the same day from the central warehouse in Esslingen. internetstores is able to stick to this shipping promise due to a modern and highly automated logistics system, and also because the company physically holds all products offered on the websites in its warehouse. These factors, in combination with professional pre- and after-sales customer care, consistently lead to high customer satisfaction rates, which in turn are reflected in record revenues.
Having reached revenues in excess of €100 million over the last twelve months already, new record highs are expected for the current fiscal and calendar year. Going forward, the company stated that it will increasingly focus on international markets to exploit future growth potential.
