Withlocals.com, a marketplace for local travel experiences, has recently raised $500K in funding from the Greenhouse Group. According to the Eindhoven-based startup, the seed investment will be used to launch out of beta version soon and to target Southeast Asia.
Withlocals was founded earlier this year to connect travellers with locals through food and experiences, and to enable a more authentic travel experience for tourists. Withlocals enables locals to sell travel experiences within the categories ‘EAT Withlocals’, ‘TOURS Withlocals’ and ‘ACTIVITIES Withlocals’.
The concept behind Withlocals reminds us a bit of the recently failed startup Gidsy or its US competitor Vayable (Update – April 2023: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this website, and we therefore deactivated the original link). What do you think?
