Porto University’s Incubator wins RegioStars award

On 31 January UPTEC, Porto University’s incubator, was awarded the RegioStar award for the ‘Smart Growth’ category, in Brussels, Belgium.

Quite appropriately named UPTEC, Porto University’s 5-year-old Science and Technology Park is Porto’s largest incubator, with currently 97 startups and 12 companies that have graduated under the roof, in addition to a further 30 graduations and exits. The park is divided into 4 centres: Technology, Creative Industries, Sea and Biotechnology.

The incubator can help entrepreneurs with ideas in the pre-incubation phase, startups looking for customers in the incubation phase and more mature startups with the acceleration phase. All entrepreneurs can apply via email.

At the Center for Business Innovation, enterprises can host or operate their projects and activities, leveraging the University R&D Departments and other interface institutes.

The RegioStars awards are promoted by the European Union in recognition of good practices and innovation. The Smart Growth category focus on the connection between university and enterprises for regional growth. For more information, visit UPTEC’s website.
