Global student mobility is a growing reality. Everywhere a student arrives, there should be a room or apartment available, or at least this is the idea behind UniPlaces. The Porto-based startup aims to replace the old-fashioned process that international students and professors use when looking for an apartment to rent.
Today the company announced a €200K funding from Portuguese investors Shilling Capital Partners and British serial entrepreneurs Alex Chesterman, founder of Zoopla.co.uk and LOVEFiLM.com, and William Reeve, founder of LOVEFiLM.com and Graze.com.
UniPlaces aims to disrupt the university apartment renting business with a better user experience, focused on universities and supported by a performance-based business model. The young company is already operating in Portugal, and Chile, with plans to expand globally, starting with a market entry in Brazil in the near future. The recent funding round will come in handy with this expansion, as well as their global site launch this summer.
