Yummypets, the social network for pet lovers, secures €1.5 million

Yummypets, one of the first social networks designed only for pet lovers, just secured €1.5 million from the French growth equity fund Newfund.

Since its launch in January 2012, Yummypets has attracted over 50,000 members and generated about 30 million page views. The iPhone app made by the Bordeaux-based startup was just launched, too.

Right now, Yummypets.com is available in French and English, and the young company just announced that it already has German and Portuguese versions in the pipeline, in addition to new features. The social network for pet lovers is completely free for its users and generates revenue from affiliate commissions.

The US equivalent of Yummypets, Dogster, has was purchased by the SAY Media Group in April 2011 for an undisclosed sum.
