United Startups of Europe: a newsletter worth reading

A few days ago, we had the chance to have a little Skype chat with Jean-Sébastien Catier about his latest project ‘United Startups of Europe’ (Update – February 2023: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this website and we therefore deactivated the link).

Jean-Sébastien is a Paris-based entrepreneur who previously founded Jakaa, an entertainment website, dedicated live commentary for television. His new project ‘United Startups of Europe’ is basically a newsletter that presents promising startups from Europe. Each issue provides you with information about a company’s product, its story, strengths and weaknesses.

During our Skype chat, we asked Jean-Sébastien about his goals for this project. He replied: “Our ultimate goal is to help European startups to expand in Europe. By promoting them, assisting them, anything we can think of. This is the best way to help creating a European market that could be as big as the American one. It would certainly boost innovation and startup development in Europe, without having to get an office in NY or SF to do so.”

As you might know, this is a similar goal to ours here at EU-Startups.com. But why is it focused on a newsletter? Jean-Sébastien continued: “First it was inspired by similar examples from the US, that could be replicated in Europe. But a newsletter is very different from a blog or a website. Our goal is not to have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, but to reach interested readers from everywhere in Europe, that have a network in their country and can promote startups just by trying their product or blogging about them. Delivered in the morning, you don’t miss any issue, and you can later explore the service or tweet about it!”

According to Jean-Sébastien, the subscribers for ‘United Startups of Europe’ are slowly increasing, but the great thing about it is the balance between the different European countries.

If you’re not a subscriber to United Startups of Europe yet, make sure to subscribe now to discover a new startup every day, from anywhere in Europe!
