madvertise, a leading European mobile audience targeting platform, has just announced the acquisition of the Turkish mobile advertising startup Mobilike. With more than 60 percent market share Mobilike is the leading mobile ad company in Turkey. Founded in 2009, the company boasts 300 million+ page impressions per month.
After securing Series B in last October to assist in driving European growth, this acquisition signifies madvertise’s aggressive plans to take a leading position on the European mobile advertising market.
Carsten Frien (CEO & co-founder, madvertise) said: “madvertise has ambitious plans for 2012 with further growth planned. Turkey is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With high mobile penetration and a predominantly young and affluent captive audience, our presence in Turkey is the logical step towards market leadership in Europe.” Frien continues: “For both parties this is a value creating deal and we are delighted to further drive the mobile advertising market in Turkey together with Mobilike and its founders Şekip Can Gökalp and Volkan Biçer. They have done a fantastic job to advance mobile advertising in Turkey and position Mobilike as the market leader.”
Şekip Can Gökalp and Volkan Biçer, founders of Mobilike, added: “With the growth we’ve experienced since 2009, the market share we now have and the added impetus of the leading European mobile audience targeting platform, madvertise, this move will have a significant and positive impact on the Turkish market. Turkey is a mobile hotbed and this will offer us the opportunity to solidify our position as a leader in the mobile advertising industry. This is truly the start of something big.”
madvertise is probably the leading mobile audience targeting platform in Europe – with two billion monthly page impressions. The young company, which was founded in 2008, enables advertisers to target a select audience, while allowing developers and publishers to monetize their mobile apps and mobile websites. Today, madvertise has over 90 employees with offices in Berlin (HQ), Hamburg, London, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, Paris and Istanbul.
