Fantasy Shopper, the new HackFwd-backed e-commerce startup that we introduced recently, has today launched in the UK.
The new platform offers its users an experience in the intersection between social gaming and shopping utilities. The founding team, who are from the city of Exeter in the UK, aims to solve some of the major challenges in the e-commerce space, in a way that produces a very rewarding end-user experience, as well as great opportunities for partners in the shopping value chain.
As a Fantasy Shopper you are enabled to spend Fantasy £’s in your favourite real world clothing shops. Over 300 shops are already connected with the site, and according to the startup, Fantasy Shopping is a bit like creating wishlists, but much more fun. If you find something you want to buy, you can purchase just one click, and in order to earn more Fantasy £’s, you can collect Paydays (every hour) and unlock virtual items. In addition to virtual icons, users can also win discount codes, real world clothes and shopping vouchers.
The young company has most likely monetized its social shopping game primarily through commissions. The Fantasy Shopper-team has also already won two prizes at business competitions and received £30,000 in prize money.
