Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) today announced the acquisition of global micropayments business Zaypay, for all cash undisclosed sum (Update – January 2023: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this name and we therefore deactivated the link).
Based in the Netherlands, Zaypay is a young and profitable mobile micropayments business that was founded in 2006. To date the business has provided secure micropayment solutions to several hundred global customers through one secure and relatively easy to use platform.
Barry Houlihan, the CEO and founder of MIG, commented in relation to the acquisition: “MIG’s vision for Zaypay is to build a one stop shop for online and mobile monetisation solutions to merchants, online billing providers and developers globally. We understand that developers are driving our industry now and Zaypay is a platform that has been built by developers, for developers – Our aim is to build stronger relationships specifically with the developer community, to provide developers with a frictionless payment system that’s tailored to their platforms and to further understand and support their requirements around monetisation on an international scale.”
Bastiaan Peters, the CTO of Zaypay, also recently stated: “We’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved over the past five years; we’ve built a profitable micropayments technology business and now, with the acquisition from MIG, the Zaypay business can be taken to the next level.”
MIG will continue to operate Zaypay as a standalone business.
