Paris-based blog FrenchWeb raises almost $1 million from French entrepreneurs

FrenchWeb, a professional Paris-based blog focused on French startups, just raised about $1 million in an angel round from 17 French web entrepreneurs.

The blog FrenchWeb.fr was founded in 2010 by Richard Menneveux, and had 270,000 unique visitors in June, according to Google Analytics. The website, which started as a simple series of video interviews, today often breaks fresh news stories that are picked up by bigger publications, and has already become one of the leading providers of French startup news.

The recent investment shows once again how well the French startup ecosystem is evolving. The fresh capital will be used for a number of initiatives, but overall to accelerate FrenchWeb’s pace of production through a new TV studio.
