The Berlin-based startup incubator Team Europe today announced its strategic partnership with Hasso Plattner Ventures, otherwise known as HPV (Update – January 2023: HPV seems to be no longer in business under this name and we therefore deactivated the link).
Team Europe, represented by Lukasz Gadowski (Spreadshirt’s founder) and Kolja Hebenstreit, will become a venture partner in HPV. This will channel future investment opportunities to HPV and enable additional investments, mainly focusing on internet companies.
In the coming years, HPV plans to invest about €20 million in later-stage online startups via this strategic partnership. An initial €3 million – €5 million are to be allocated per company. As partner in the venture, Team Europe will be responsible for the deal identification and acquisition for HPV.
“This partnership is a win-win situation,” commented Lukasz Gadowski in relation to the partnership. “Hasso Plattner Ventures will specifically extend its investment portfolio to include online startups, while we will complement the seed investment activities of our co-founded ‘Point Nine Capital’ fund with later-stage investments.”
Eran Davidson, Managing Partner at HPV was also pleased with the potential of the partnership: “Team Europe’s extensive network and their online expertise represent important success factors for our investment decisions. We have already worked successfully with Team Europe in the past.“
