French dating site Smartdate has certainly been growing quickly over the past few months (Update – December 2022: The startup seems to be no longer in business, and we therefore deactivated the link).
From announcing a €2 million funding round in February of 2010, to raising an additional €3.5 million in November 2010 with the founders of PriceMinster, they have been in no shortage of funds. Right now, about a year after the launch of the dating service, the startup has already over 3.1 million users. According to Smartdate the service is counting about 20,000 new profiles per day, showing its ambition to dethrone Meetic and become the number one in the sector.
