Plendi, an Irish startup that helps users track their expenses via a mobile phone, has just received a €50K seed investment from Enterprise Ireland (Update – December 2022: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this name and we therefore deactivated the link).
Plendi was founded in 2010 and is based in Dublin. How does the service work for users? After downloading the app, users take a photo of a receipt, and upload it to the system. From here, the app does all the ‘heavy lifting’ of storing the vendor, date, currency, net, VAT and total, and can then be collated into a nifty PDF or Excel report.
The service is subscription-based, where users pay €39.95 per year for access, and is available for iPhones and Android-based mobile phones. According to Plendi’s CEO Fergal Murray, the service will also soon be available via a BlackBerry-based app, which will be released in April 2011.
