Manchester-based games studio Playdemic is acquired by US-based RockYou

The UK-based social games developer Playdemic was recently bought by the US-based RockYou (Update – December 2022: RockYou seems to be no longer in business and we therefore deactivated the link).

Founded in 2005, RockYou is one of the leading developers of social games and is also inventing in the space of advertising solutions for social media. It’s commonly known for its ability to ‘rescue’ popular games that other publishers didn’t want anymore, keeping them alive for their user base.

Playdemic was founded in 2010 in Manchester, the UK. In the future Playdemic will, according to RockYou, operate independently as a subsidiary studio and develop Facebook games for a mainstream audience.
