German users of Google Analytics face serious problems

The recent breakdown in talks between Germany’s data protection officials and Google may cause some problems for German websites using Google Analytics.

Google Analytics, in case you are not yet familiar, is a web analytics service offered by Google. The free tool tracks and reports website traffic, sitting as a platform inside the Google Marketing Platform brand.

It has been reported that in the opinion of German officials, the privacy of internet users is being violated by Google Analytics, and the search giant hasn’t done enough to address these concerns. As the service is theoretically illegal now, this means that many Google Analytics users in Germany could face challenges in the near future.
