German marketplace startup DaWanda lands undisclosed amount of funding

DaWanda’s shareholder’s list has changed a little bit these past few days, thanks to a fresh batch of shares being sold to well-known players in the European startup scene (Update – December 2022: The startup seems to be no longer operating under the name DaWanda and we therefore deactivated the link).

Founded by Claudia Helming and Michael Pütz, DaWanda is an online marketplace that trades handmade products from professional artisans, artists, designers, and individuals. If you’ve heard of Etsy, this is the European-born equivalent.

Who participated in this round? Berlin-based Team Europe Ventures was involved in this funding round, as well as Kima Ventures and Piton Capital, given that Team Europe Ventures holds shares in trust for the these two investors.

DaWanda is a certainly growing into a truly Europe-wide marketplace online, now also being available in English, German and French, being accessible to a wider audience than competitors.
