What is Taxfix?
Taxfix is a well-funded tech startup in the heart of Berlin. It is our mission to make tax declaration easy!
We believe that everybody, regardless of their income, deserves to get the maximum out of their tax returns. Taxfix allows everyone to file taxes in 25 minutes on the mobile phone, without any knowledge about taxes, no stress, and no forms. Taxfix offers a chat-like interface to guide you through the process and gives you the maximum return.

Our team has a proven record of creating products that help people improve their lives. We share a passion for product development and a great user experience. We are a nice, small and international team, with talent and hard-working attitude and non-bureaucratic processes and open communication.
We work in a multidisciplinary product team and we build elegant user interfaces using an exciting tech stack of React Native for our iOS & Android apps. We use modern JavaScript across our stack, from our Node.js API to our React Native view layer and React-based internal tools. Our data stack consists of Google cloud based infrastructure consisting of BigQuery, PostgreSQL and Python based transformations.
The role:
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data team.
You will play a central role in our data-driven strategy, designing and developing our data infrastructure, processes and analytics capabilities.
You will work on complex problems such as event pipelines, analytics or applied machine learning. You will be responsible for making the vast amount of data accessible, reliable and efficient to query, so our teams can make the best data-driven decisions.
You will be involved in important product decisions and work closely with the whole team helping to create intuitive and reliable apps. We are looking for someone passionate about crafting high quality and elegant code.
You are the right fit for the team if:
You can develop initiatives on ensuring data quality, accuracy and reliability
You have experience working in large-scale data processing pipeline and cloud infrastructure
You can optimize and improve existing data pipelines to support our growth, initiatives around performance and scalability
You can implement and proactively research new ways to maintain data models to unlock actionable insights and improve processes
You can design and implement metrics, dashboards, and reports
You can design and manage cloud hosted Big Data Infrastructure
You can serve as a liaison between the product teams and the data engineering team
You are experienced with SQL (Postgres, Hive, BigQuery)
You are confident working with python (pandas/ scikit learn), R a plus
You work with Git, Continuous Integration, and TDD
You have good written and verbal communication skills and you can be an interface between Product Development, Growth, Design and Business.
You share our passion for product development and user experience.
You are able to work independently and own a project, but you also love team work!
You are pragmatic and work autonomously with a strong positive attitude and overcome challenges with passion.
You hold a permit to work in Germany
