ObjectBox (Techstars ’17) is a company that helps app / IoT developers develop faster apps faster by ensuring data is where it is needed when it is needed. ObjectBox is optimized for small connected devices. Our users / customers are app / IoT developers. If you are not that technical, think of it as a Dropbox for app / IoT developers. App / IoT Developers use it within the app to ensure the app end users always have the latest data when they need it where they need it. App end users do not need to care; they simply enjoy a smooth app experience. At the core of this solution lies our mobile database, which is 10x faster than the industry leader SQLite and which only takes 1/10th of the code (LOC) to implement.

We are also the team behind the open source projects greenDAO and EventBus, which are used by 30% of the top-500 apps on Google Play. To give some examples: Pinterest, Booking, Snapchat are all using our prior libraries in their apps.

Job role

The operations manager role will be our first administrative hire. There’s quite some flexibility in defining the role and working conditions as well as lots of room to advance within the company depending on your skillset, dreams, and needs. We’re still very small, so everyone is expected to do a bit of everything to keep the business humming. Therefore, we are looking for someone, who likes to switch roles e.g. from recruiting and onboarding of new employees to organizing meetups and focus groups to taking over marketing tasks – while still ensuring all operation processes are completed in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is someone who loves to learn, wants to grow, and is flexible, hands-on, energetic, highly organized, and enjoys working with people and processes.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure that the internal operations of the organization are completed in a timely manner, everything runs smoothly, and that processes are put in place to deliver performance and achieve goals
  • Define / document the corresponding processes and set up forms and checklists accordingly
  • Take over HR tasks like posting recruitment ads, supporting the relocation of new hires, and helping with the onboarding of new team members (remote and onsite)
  • Optional, depending on skillset: Candidate screenings / interviews
  • Prepare and edit correspondence, communications, presentations and other documents as needed
  • Manage and maintain executives’ schedules, appointments and travel arrangements
  • Check / prepare expense reports for bookkeeping
  • Maintain and update the company KPIs on a weekly basis; optional, depending on skillset: evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Optional, depending on skillset: support marketing tasks like Facebook or google ads and SEO measures, monitor and analyse marketing KPIs, maintain parts of the website
  • Work alongside the founders on high-impact strategic, operational and organizational topics
  • Ensure that a healthy team culture is created and maintained

 Requirements

  • You love working with people and enjoy supporting a team
  • You have very strong English skills and proficiency in German
  • You pay attention to detail and enjoy working diligently
  • You bring great organization, coordination and prioritization skills and like to keep the strings together
  • You are a fast learner, who wants to grow; you like to take over responsibility and appreciate working independently
  • You have at least 4 years of relevant working experience
  • You have good command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business administration or related fields
  • You have an affinity for mobile technologies, open source, or the tech industry in general

 Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with WordPress or other web technologies, Confluence and / or bug trackers
  • Experience with a CRM system (e.g. Streak, Hubspot, Salesforce)
  • Experience in working in a startup and / or as an Operations Manager / Executive Assistance or similar role
  • Master’s degree, ideally in business administration or related fields
