Morten Lund will join us as a speaker at the EU-Startups Summit, April 24 in Barcelona!

On April 24 we’re going to host the EU-Startups Summit at the Auditori AXA in Barcelona. It will be the 5th edition of our annual flagship event – and with 750 startups/investors also our biggest one so far!

And today we’re excited to announce the 2nd speaker who will join us at the EU-Startups Summit: It’s Morten Lund – a well known serial entrepreneur, and with over 115 personal investments probably Europe’s most active angel investor!

Morten’s journey as an entrepreneur has seen him reach great highs and lows. He was an early investor in Skype, which was sold to eBay in September 2005 for $2.5 billion, and again in May 2011 to Microsoft for $8.5 billion. This led to a big payday for Morten and the whole founding team of Skype. Just a few years after the Skype exit, Morten had to file for personal bankruptcy in January 2009 following a disastrous end to his free newspaper venture Nyhedsavisen. In April of 2010 Morten announced that he was out of bankruptcy.

In his 20s Morten started his first successful company, which became one of Denmark’s leading web design agencies. Morten eventually sold it to Leo Burnett at the age of 27. In his 30s, Morten created Denmark’s first incubator, active in Skype, ZYB, Bullguard, Polar Rose, Zecco and 80 other startups. A more recent smash hit was Tradeshift, a digital invoicing group founded in his basement in November 2009. In total, Tradeshift was able to raise more than $180 million in venture capital and is expanding on a global scale. Now in his 40s, Morten is concentrating on financial technology companies linked to Tradeshift, with Capital Aid as the standout project. Morten is also building a portfolio of startups that match his needs as a serial entrepreneur such as pitchXO, Tofte & Company and Sharkboard.

At the EU-Startups Summit, Morten will share some of the learnings he made as investor and serial entrepreneur and will tell us what excites him today!
