You’re working on an innovative idea related to fashion tech? In this case, Fashion Fusion is the perfect opportunity for you! It’s an initiative and accelerator program by Deutsche Telekom at the intersection of fashion and technology – turning visionary concepts into lifestyle reality.
With the Fashion Fusion Challenge, young talents throughout Europe are given the unique opportunity to realize their visionary concepts for high-tech apparel, wearables and digital lifestyle products and bring them to market. Within the competition, they will be presented with the help of experts from industry, the fashion sector and the startup scene.
The first challenge in 2016 already showed impressively how the future of fashion could look like. More than 120 applicants from 25 countries pointed out the relevance of the topic. Trainwear, a virtual personal trainer integrated in smart fitness clothing, emerged as the winner of the first Telekom Fashion Fusion Challenge.

The judges are looking for visionary ideas for fusions of high tech with high fashion in three categories:
- Connected Devices & Smart Accessories
- Haute Couture & Show Fashion
- Business Solutions & Smart Services
For this years’ edition, the competition got a new slogan: Technology becomes Fashion. In 2017 the seamless integration of technology and the need to keep an eye to marketability of a product, all the way from initial concept to readiness for market, will play a central role in choosing the three eventual winners. An expert jury will select ten finalist teams, who will receive coaching and support to develop their projects in a series of master classes given by experts from industry and the fashion world from February to May 2018. The winners will be announced at an exclusive award show in July 2018. The Telekom Fashion Fusion competition is sponsored by Adidas, Intel, Lufthansa, Zeiss as well as WIRED Germany.
The main part of the Fashion Fusion Challenge is the Fashion Fusion Lab. Here the finalists have the opportunity to realize their concept ideas in an innovative environment that is equipped with all facilities. They receive close support from high-caliber coaches, partner companies and experts. In addition, a wealth of know-how is taught in the context of impulse lectures, masterclasses and workshops. An exclusive networking with the fashiontech scene, start-ups and partner companies also takes place. A close cooperation with the Fab Lab Berlin provides the finalists with additional machines as well as know-how.
Partnerships and coaches that participate so far include: Styleproofed, Statex, Osram, Trotec, Lufthansa Innovation Hub, Bikini Berlin, AlphaTauri, Hugo Boss, the Parsons School of Fashion, UDK Berlin, Premium Exhibition and Forster Rohner.
