Berlin-based fitness startup 8fit secures $10 million in total funding with the close of its Series A round

8fit, a health and fitness startup building the most engaging and approachable way for people to achieve healthy habits for life, announced today a total of $10 million in funding with the closing of a Series A round led by Creandum and Eight Roads Ventures. The company was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Berlin. The 8fit team already counts more than 50 full time employees worldwide.

Launched by repeat entrepreneurs Pablo Villalba and Pedro Solá, 8fit makes healthy living simple by providing tailored guidance, including workouts and meal plans, in an easy-to-use app. The company has already helped more than 10 million people achieve their personal fitness goals with customized plans that adapt to their lifestyle, preferences and goals, with more than 50% of those people based in the U.S.

Pablo Villalba, the CEO and co-founder of 8fit stated: “With the Series A, we’re bolstering our team to support our rapid international user growth and keeping our eyes on the ultimate goal of helping as many people as possible live healthier, happier lives.”

Countless studies show that exercise on its own provides incredible benefits, but it isn’t as powerful for lifelong health as when paired with proper nutrition. 8fit combines High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and yoga workouts designed to be done anywhere, anytime, with wholesome, nutritious meal plans based on real food, customized by food group or specific ingredients. The customized plans are tailored to an individual’s current fitness level and goals, whether that goal is weight loss, muscle gain, improved endurance, or simply more confidence.

Michael Treskow, Partner at Eight Roads Ventures, added: “Mobile is transforming global fitness and nutrition by bringing healthier lifestyle choices to a wider audience. 8fit has built a unique product to support people’s individual fitness goals via a personalized program, and we look forward to partnering with the team on its journey.”
