Sviper, a Hamburg-based mobile gaming studio, successfully completed a seed investment round led by Rocket Internet’s venture capital arm Global Founders Capital (GFC). The funding enables the gaming studio to expand operations by hiring key team members and launch two mobile games within the next few months.

The first game: ‘Wild City Rush – Urban Jungle Adventure’ will hit Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store already this month. Sviper was founded in 2016 by serial entrepreneurs Ole Schaper and Mark Buchholz, as well as mobile gaming professional Michael Reichert – three German games industry veterans with experience at Bigpoint, Goodgame Studios and InnoGames.

Sviper was founded to capitalise on emerging trends and opportunities in mobile gaming, starting with games that focus on fast and simple skill based core mechanics and utilize deep progression systems. More games are already planned, featuring deeper gameplay mechanics and a focus on higher player engagement.

The mobile gaming market is still growing at a fast pace and there are no signs that it will slow down soon. With new audiences, higher-end devices, and the emergence of new markets, the industry offers some great opportunities for mobile game developers.

Ole Schaper, a co-founder of Sviper stated: “The first big investment in Sviper comes with perfect timing. It enables us to start building a portfolio of unique high-quality games. With this financial backing, we will hire top talent and are in the best position to capitalise on the industry’s huge potential.”

Matthias Müller, Partner at GFC said: “At GFC, we have already invested in several very successful web & mobile gaming companies over the years. Sviper is definitely a company to keep an eye on in this sector. The huge expertise of the team will enable the company to grow at a fast pace.”
