Books have the power to transform lives and businesses. With our section “The favorite books of…” we inform you once in a while about the favorite books of some of the most successful Internet entrepreneurs. Today we’re looking at the bookshelf of Sarah Lacy and Michael Arrington:
Sarah Lacy, Former TechCrunch writer and Pandodaily Founder
About 3 years ago, mentioned her favorite books about emerging markets on her personal blog (Update – March 2023: The website seems to be out of use, and we therefore deactivated the original link). Her list goes like this: 1) The Post-American World, which is not a book about the decline of America, but rather about the rise of everyone else; 2) India after Gandhi features the History of the World’s Largest Democracy; and, 3) Democratic Brazil Revisited, which talks about the world’s fifth-largest country.
Michael Arrington, Founder of TechCrunch
Arrington once stated that very few business books are worth reading. He advises entrepreneurs to read science fiction instead. His favorite science fiction books are: 1) Dune – 20,000 years in the future, a noble family leaves pleasant planet for a hopeless desert planet called Dune at order of the emporer; 2) Foundation Trilogy – these three books are a small part of what’s now called the Foundation Series.
