Munich-based smarchive, a cloud-based document storage startup, secures seven-figure investment

Munich-based smarchive, one of first intelligent document filing systems, has just received a seven-figure investment before launching its software. T-Venture, CHECK24 and some business angels, among them Birgit Ströbel, co-founder of Germany’s biggest online real estate platforms, Immobilienscout24, are taking part in the funding round.

The young company was founded in 2011, and describes itself as the smart-ring binder for the digital age. Its software, which is currently in the closed beta phase, will be made available to the general public in the first quarter of 2013.

So how does smarchive work? Thanks to various import methods like photographing paper documents with smartphones, automatic integration from service provider customer portals, or by syncing with cloud storage services, you can find your documents in the archive in a matter of seconds. The documents are then categorized and a reminder function ensures that no more due dates are forgotten. Personal records are always available via the app or by browser, and security is top priority at smarchive; the data is encrypted multiple times and hosted on German servers according to strict data protection regulations.

Steffen Reitz, founder and CEO of smarchive, stated: “Our goal is to offer a novel and innovative software solution to everyday paperwork that will lead to individuals spending less time on imposing, bureaucratic tasks. It gives virtually everyone their own personal assistant on the side.”

Thanks to specially developed semantic software, this technology offers more than just data storage in the cloud. Since smarchive is an intelligent system, it reminds users of cancellation periods and automatically organises and sorts documents in the correct folders. It’s also characterized by a user-friendly and amiably designed interface.

Steffen Reitz, founder and CEO of smarchive, expanded: “Thanks to smarchive, paperwork only takes a few seconds and can be managed comfortably with tablets – whether you’re on the road or at home on the couch. We’re very proud of having inspired CHECK24 along with T-Venture and even experienced entrepreneurs like Birgit Ströbel.”

  1. In the age of doing everything online, data storage in a secured way is very important but just depending on your Operating system won’t do you any good because there is always the chance of data loss. This is why online document storage is so important and has become an instant success among users because it helps you to manage and keep all your important documents at one place.
