Skyscanner’s highly-rated travel search app, which allows users to find the cheapest flights on the go, has just reached the milestone of 10 million downloads.
The free app was first launched on the iPhone in February 2011 and is now available on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone and, most recently, BlackBerry. Last December, when we first introduced you to the Edinburgh-based company, Skyscanner had announced 5 million downloads.
The Skyscanner app is now available in over 30 languages and is downloaded every five seconds across devices, as travellers increasingly look for inspiration and plan their trip on the move. Almost a third of the 30 million monthly visits to Skyscanner’s site are via mobile, while in some markets such as in Asia more than 50% of visits are via mobile devices.
Skyscanner has also just updated its Android app. The new version offers the same powerful features and flexibility as the Android app and now also allows users to add flight searches onto a widget; this can be added to the phone’s desktop to monitor price changes or to get inspiration for destinations for a specific month or date.

Skyscanner was founded in 2003 and is today one of Europe’s leading travel search sites providing instant online comparisons for millions of flights on over a thousand airlines, as well as car hire and hotels.
