Ian Monk, a former UBS executive who set his wife up with the Bathrooms.com website to keep her from getting bored, has sold a £7.5m stake in the UK based business to Lord Jacob Rothschild’s Augmentum Capital fund. The deal values it at around £20m. Read more and visit The Telegraph.
BlablaCar, a European carpooling marketplace that connects any driver who has empty seats with paying passengers, has now launched its iPhone app in the UK. The Samwer brothers’ Swedish backer Kinnevik spent €300 million on Rocket Internet last quarter. In its 2012 Q1 results, Kinnevik reports a 2.7 billion (€300 million) investment in Rocket Internet and portfolio companies over the last three months, about the same (€305 million) as it invested across 2011. GetTaxi has today announced the release of the second version of its cab-ordering iOS app, as it seeks to capitalize on its growth over the past two years.
