Wired-logoThe famous tech magazine Wired recently profiled Europe’s hottest startup capitals. skype_groupme-logosSkype has acquired GroupMe for $85 million. The group messaging service GroupMe was founded in 2010 by Steve Martocci and Jared Hecht and had secured roughly $11 million in funding. Find out more about this acquisition on Business Insider.

Barisma-logoBarisma, a new Finland-based startup, connects people to bars, clubs and cafes. The recently launched platform provides its users with a search engine for venues, with some social networking features. spreadshirt-logoThe investors of Spreadshirt (an online platform for apparel merchandising) are watching their exit potential closely. Since being founded in Germany in 2002, Spreadshirt has expanded to the rest of Europe and the US as well. CEO Philip Rooke said that several buyers, both private-equity firms and clothing companies, have expressed interest in purchasing the company.
