UK-based Artfinder lands funding to expand its art discovery platform

Artfinder, a UK-based startup connecting the art and internet-world, has just received an undisclosed first-round funding from Wellington Partners, Sherry Coutu and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman.

Artfinder offers a new way to discover, experience and share art. It gives users access to hundreds of thousands of paintings from artists around the world. With a growing number of images, artist biographies, articles and guides, Artfinder makes it easy to learn more about your favourite artists and their works. On the monetization-side, Artfinder is going to generate revenue mainly via app-sales and by selling print-on-demand items or even original artworks.

Today Artfinder also launched its open beta-version. This means you can now start collecting your favourite artworks, and share them with your friends via email, Twitter or Facebook.
