Copenhagen-based goviral, a video network, is acquired by AOL Europe

The branded video distribution network goviral, which was originally started out of Copenhagen, was just bought by AOL Europe (Update – December 2022: The startup seems to be no longer in business and we therefore deactivated the link).

The video network was established in 2005, originally to provide seeding and tracking services for media agencies, ad agencies and advertisers. Goviral’s content distribution network already includes over 18,000 publishers in 24 verticals, and generates more than 60 million video views monthly. Goviral is now mainly based in London but has offices in many other European cities.

The amount of the acquisition was $96,7 million; the concrete purchase price was $74.1 million, with an additional $22.6 million in deferred compensation to be paid over 2 years.
